Rolex Comex Print (Limited)

To those who hold a deep fascination for their watches, Rolex is often viewed as a mysterious horology maison that exists exclusively behind tightly shut doors. But some companies have been fortunate to build a close relationship with the company, becoming long term partners in the most noble of endeavours, from sports to the arts, scientific research and perhaps most famously, exploration.

In Blackbird Watch Manual Vol.3, we featured an in depth research on the long partnership between Rolex and the Compagnie Maritime d' Expertises (Comex), unveiling how the collaboration has contributed to advancing Rolex’s incomparable expertise in diving watches and leading to the creation of many highly sought-after references.

The enhancements for these references has come along over a close to 40 year partnership, earning Rolex a reputation for endurance. Subtle nuances, such as those found within the Helium Escape Valve references could be found from the dial design, position of the valve, reference number to issue number and perhaps, one of the most fascinating parts - the case back.

This print features 15 examples of case back engraving ranging from references 5513, 5514, 1665, 16660 and 16600, with detailed indications on the parallel Comex issued number. It is a compelling collectible for Rolex collectors that includes all varieties of exterior engraving within a constrained series of watches. Limited to only 80 copies, each individually numbered.
